Twenty pounders! And when squash get that big, nothing but a goat can eat them.
I haven't had much luck this year growing anything. I do have a bay laurel that's doing well, and that blasted asparagus fern that refuses to die. The best I've been able to do so far is keep some things alive. Not a single one of the tomato plants I started grew, neither did the potatoes or the onions I put in - yours seem to be doing okay, though.

Didn't someone say that: "there no such thing as Too Many Tomatoes"?

Default 'Maters!

I'm sorry you guys had such a terrible Summer; for you and your gardens. What is this world coming to, what with these weird weather swings? We haven't had the heat so bad (115 highest so far), but for us the humidity has been killer. I guess it was to get me used to what's in store back there.

You can never have enough of 'Maters or Okra!!!! My tomato plant I put in a year ago LAST March is still ALIVE and blooming. The nights are still too hot to set so I might not see any more. It was labeled "The Best Tomato" (T,V,F1&2,NA) purchased at The Home Depot when they first got their new Spring shipment in for 2009 and cost $1.99. It is the best tasting tomato I have ever eaten and I'll bet we got over 300 off the one plant. I made cuttings and they took and I gave them away. I can't find anything about that strain online nor have I seen one again at the stores. Bummer. I did save a lot of seeds, so maybe? The tag shows it was grown by Colorama Nursery, Azusa, CA 91702, but no luck online there either. With our weather it did 'maters in all but the hottest months. (July and August)

I hope I can find one back there somehow. It was a monster. The old Okra seeds I found and put in pots are still spitting it out. NOW I feel like a farmer. 'Maters and Okra!!! What more could you want? I had one squarsh make it to about 14 inches, in a pot, and it's just turning yaller, so I'll split it open to see if it's edible. I got a lot of blossoms, but only one that made it to fruition.

I reserved the Penske yesterday for the 17th!!!! Now to finish off all this mess and get it loaded. I'm pooped already. I can hardly wait for that drive! NOT!!!!

The absolute best squash we have ever had is called zucchini squash. Very tasty and soft. It will grow a foot in three nights, so you have to watch them closely.

I only fertilized twice this year. I just could not keep up with the weeds.

The seed that came up and fruited for me was one of the yellow, winter squash. The hard kind that is bulbous on one end. I like them from the store, so I hope this is good. At least I got one!!! I think we may have ruined the neighborhood with zuchinni out here.

I like the way we have enough heat to make a good summer, then when it seems like we are sick of it, the seasons change. Then when we get sick of ice storms and cold weather, it changes.

I prefer Oklahoma weather. For me it's better IMO than 82 degrees every day and sunshine 360 days of the year. I think the avg temps in so cal in winter were about 78 and summers were about 86 average. I prefer four seasons.
