So racism "hinges" on the Republican side but the Democrats get off scot free?
Please, that is a very stereotypical view of which I do not appreciate at all. PROVE TO ME that Republicans "hinge" on racism.
Your choice of words definitely infers that Republicans are racist, however you want to couch it after the fact. Perhaps the tolerant state of Ohio is really the place for you instead of the Republican, intolerant, and racist state of Oklahoma.
Why would you want to move to a state that "hinges" on the Republican and racist side of things (in your opinion)?

Synopsis......this is what I meant. I'm not quite sure how things are meant to be worded here.
I'm wondering if something was misworded or misunderstood. Because it doesn't sound like SeabeeBolt callng Rep's racists. The wayIread it, it soundslike SeabeeBolt was refering to something Matti Jo said.
I'm Republican, Conservative, and I guess you could call me a Yankee. I'm also a long time advocate against illegal Immigration and I have been referred to(along with many others) as a Racist many time for trying to help enforce existing US laws. But a racist I am not.!
In other words, I can understand what your trying to say.....

do we have a good ol' boy system here. you betcha. that i learned on my own, and then was told about it by others.
is that a bad thing? i don't think so. but if the police do side with a man over a woman in the case of a woman being beaten, then that is a bad thing.
As to animal cruelty, it is horrible here. I have heard too many stories, and I saw a dog that had been hit with an axe or other sharp object on his forehead. He was up for adoption. People here dump dogs, and we have a lot of feral cats. I have lived in the country much of my life and in small towns and never saw such cruelty. It is hard to find homes for these animals.
It would be nice if the town pulled together and got others to clean up their yards, but then that could be stepping on toes, even if you offered to paint certain houses. we have yet to paint our house, and it would be nice if the town's people came over and helped. lol. i would love the mainstreet to be fixed more old fashioned than it is, and that takes money. the shops are painted, but they are not all cute. planter boxes were once put out front, but no one watered them, so they all died, so very few stores have them anymore. very few businesses or people have the money to be put into fixing up store fronts, etc. Empty bldgs. are up for sale and no one buys them. and then these horrible modern blgs. get put up on the south end of town and down downing, and if i had a zap gun i would destroy them all, leave the people standing. lol.
most people in cherokee county are democrats, but there were enough racists to cause this county to go for bush. and yes, many of these people are good ol' fashioned christians. you just learn to accept that people are hard to change, and you hang out with those that are not racists, whether they are democrats or republicans or whatever.
As for guns being handed out. Your husband has to be abusive and you have to fear for your life and then sign papers to get the gun. That is the least they can do. But you best not kill your man.

that is truly unnecessary and factually untrue commentary

I am against illegal immigration also, but I am not a racist. Existing laws should be inforced, and I think it is great that you are doing this.
I am not sure what seabeebolt is trying to say either, but it doesn't seem like he believes all republicans are racists.

The (temporary) *official* political Mud-slingin' thread...
For those of you who insist on debating whose "party" is more racist, feel free to do so here...
When everyone is finished venting their spleens and can't see for the mud in your eyes, I will lock this up and let it sink to the murky depths where it should be rather than derailing a (perfectly good) thread about Tahlequah.
I've moved your *discussion* here...

I did try to be nice, really! I even sat on my fingers a LOT!
But I also thought that thread was kind of wandering further and further away from the original topic....

I tend to agree with Mattie Jo. And I don't think this thread is about which party is more racist. It is about many people voting McCain/Palin just because Obama is black and has a "muslim" middle name. In other words .... based on ignorance.
I also agree with Stillwater Townie and would like to add that not all of Oklahoma is conservative. Or intolerant. I know plenty of Okies who belong to the old fashioned Democaratic school of thought. I also know plenty of people who drink the Limbaugh kool-aide on a daily basis.

Synopsis,
My deepest apologies if you thought, or I made it sound that I was saying that racist only dwell on the Republican side of the political relm. It doesn't and I now this, its a cancer that infects all side. And Ohio is full of that cancer as well as all of the other 49 states and the Democrats, sad to say .
Thank you LR for havin the forsight to move this part of the Tahlequa off topic discussion. I don't want to make any bad blood or riffs in the Oklahoma thread, sorry folks
I was only trying to explain to Mattie Jo my thoughts about Tahlequa and her people and we somehow got way off subject through misinterpretation.
Karibear, maybe I need to learn how too sit on my fingers .
