It's probably either Orlando of that nearby town, Mulhall, that got hit hard by a tornado in 1999. However, I just saw an on the scene report from KOCO channel 5, OKC and no mention was made of any towns evacuating and it appeared the hiway 51 where it intersects I-35 was reopened. The worst is surely over now.

Only if the winds die down , and I hope they do soon. We have people from 3 different towns now evacuated to our fairgrounds.

News Break!
The fire has put out in Velma and some people are allowed to return to thier homes.
This smokey day in Ok. reminded me of a normal smoggy day in SoCal.

Smoke was at times quite thick and the flames very close to the road when I was driving to Edmond from Tulsa late this afternoon/early this evening. If I had known it would be that bad, I'd have turned around and gone back....the smoke was relentless and even though I had the air on "recycle", the dogs and I were coughing quite a bit. Can't even imagine what it must be like for those in neighborhoods with houses getting destroyed... Hope everyone will be all right...also hope any companion animals left behind in houses will be all right. Read that a couple was unable to go home after work and that they were worried about their dogs. This is actually one of my biggest fears....that my home will burn down with my dogs in it while I'm helpless, far away.

This evening in Stillwater when you go outside you can smell smoke in the wind. No wonder. It's thought that 4,000 to 5,000 acres have burnt in the rural areas of Stillwater area alone.

ICvegan, I feel the same way about my Kritter-Kats... They know to come running to me when they hear the tornado sirens, but fire is a different story.
