So, I found a sweatshirt in my favorite color at Old Navy the other day and my friend looked at me funny when I freaked out in excitement that it said "Miami" across the front of it.
She was like and I had to explain that, though it was probably meant as "My-am-ee", Florida, I wanted it because there's a "My-am-uh", Oklahoma that's spelled the same way.
My infatuation with Oklahoma might be getting a bit ridiculous

I CAN'T wait. I really don't know how I'm gonna do it. I wanna get there, get settled & get a job ASAP!! It's all I can think about. I feel like I'm doing nothing here, when I could be doing so much there!

I hope you love it as much as we do! We've been here about 14 months. Couldn't be happier with our decision to move here from NJ.

Since we were talkin about accents, a friend from GA came to visit the other day. I took him to a local bar and we were talking about accents. I pointed out a guy across the bar and said, "He's not from Oklahoma." My friend was curious how I could tell and I really couldn't explain it. I could just say that he didn't sound like an Okie. So, we started a conversation and sure enough, he was from FL.

Exactly. I also have this uncanny ability to place people from the South within their region as well as those who are from the West, East, and Midwest.
I really didn't think I had an accent until I lived in New England (then the West Coast, and spent some time in the Midwest) and many of my friends from these areas gave me the hardest time for my twang.
I don't think Okies really know how twangy our venacular truly is until we go out of the South and go to a place where the accent is neutral (like the West or Midwest, for example) and it really sticks out.
I've come to be proud of the Okie twang and all the folks that are using it! When I lived in different areas of the country many people would be amazed at how proud I (and other Okies they had met) was of my homestate. They just don't know what a great place Oklahoma is....let's keep it a secret ya'll and preserve the bonafied Okie accent!

Of the various states I've lived in (7), I have NEVER lived in a state that was "advertised" as much by the general population as here. Everywhere I go, I seen something with "Oklahoma" on it -- jacket, hat, shirt, etc. Also shirts with "Yukon", "Mustang", etc.
