Default Paint horse needs a home

We have a neighbor who has too many horses and too little pasture. One of his horses (a Paint) is just dang tired of not having enough to eat and is not going to take it anymore! This Paint has escaped-numerous times-at will-over a 9 month period, lives on the lam and is smart enough to elude all attempts at being captured. He basically lives in three or four pastures other than his own.

We called the owner numerous times and the owner said take him! Take him to the sale barn and sell him! If you can catch him, you can have him. Any horse lovers in Oklahoma close to Seminole feel up to riding in and saving the day?

Last night around 1:00 AM I had him and another horse corraled in my dog kennel and they both sprouted wings and flew out! Help or advice needed.

Default Update on the horse with no home

Well, we found out that if the horse is in our pasture for more than 30 days, we could legally take it to the Sale Barn (our local cattle auction site) and auction it off.

Of course, that is 30 days after we notified the owner. Well, the owner is now very old and nearly blind. His son said we could have it. But I don't want the horse, because I believe a person should have the time and love -and the money- to properly care for a horse.

So, I was wanting to post and let anyone in OK know they could HAVE the horse free if they were willing to come and capture the darn thing. But now, the Sheriff has come and captured the horse and it is on its way to the Sale Barn.

It reminds me of Animal Rescue. People should not have more animals than they can care for. It was a beautiful horse.

I hope they find a good home for him and not some place where the same or worse will happen.

You can try Craigslist for such things, but the Oklahoma segments are woefully under-utilized. Maybe try the Dallas section, as well. For instance, there are over 111,000 posts in the Dallas "for sale" area right now, as opposed to just over 6,000 in the OKC section.

To be perfectly honest, my fear is the past owner will buy the horse back.

It is the smartest horse I have ever met. Young, healthy and buck wild. I saw it lead another horse thru a maze of fallen trees to a downed fence and out to freedom. Once on the dirt the road, it trotted to an abandoned house with tall lush green grass. The same owner has pigs and hogs that stray. So while the rest of the country frets over politics and illegal immigrants, I get to chase farm animals.

I went to craiglist and the OK section is pretty much desolate. Didn't even post it. With their leader gone, I think the other horses will stay put. Just wanted to add closure this thread.
