It is our self-survival insticts. Other States like CA must be intertained, dined and wined. We do not buy above our means. I was raised in CA and when my relatives visit, it is like where can we go, where should we eat,......now about just sitting on the front porch and enjoying conversation!

Too many people depend on someone else to "entertain" them in my opinion. I agree with you entirely debbie.

I feel ya both,

I have a sister and when ever she and her family come up from Florida they always expect others to do for them, i.e. food, entertainment and a place to flop, all at the other person expence. The funny part was when the Tour D'France was go on, she called and asked if we had Cable so her husband could watch the race while she and the children visited. Well, you know what my answer was, "nope, we don't get that channel". Needless to say they never did stop by to say hi or otherwise, Oh well.
And get this, my oldest sister is getting married in June "Again " and to the same man "to whom we both respect, (up til now)". And for her wedding reception she is haveing a (POT LUCK) reception dinner . Now how white trash is that. Now when my DW family comes around they don't want to put anyone out, so they find themselves a motel room, end of story. I love her side of the family . Good people

I like the old saying that my father would always say, (If I have to have an appointment to stop and see family, thats the day that I stop seeing them all together).
