Take it easy, BTF. Life is too short to be worrying about things we cannot control.

Tornados can do strange things like leave one house untouched and the next one devastated. They can hop, skip and jump, and not all tornadoes are F5's.

I have heard of them sucking the door off an underground cellar, so it doesn't really matter where you are at. If it is your time to go, it doesn't matter if you are in a nuclear bomb shelter, you will go.

Just enjoy your youth and take life by the tail and WHIP IT!

WHIP IT GOOD!

That's my motto.

I would think there is a decent bus system for getting the students to OCCC. BTF is going to have a busy three days when she gets here.

BTF needs a scout to help her find potential places! Personally, I would just drive around the school and take the first decent place.
Yeah, I think I've talked Dad into staying for at least 4 days... still working things out. I looked for flights for about 4 hours tonight and all I have to show for it is I know that we could fly from PWM to DFW for $236 per person round trip, and that that's about half of the cost to fly into OKC. Plus I know a heck of a lot of airport codes I didn't know before.

Of course, Dad was asleep by the time I found that deal, and that rate could change tomorrow. I think we'll be calling the travel agent my grandfather usually plans trips through, because I feel like I'm gonna go crazy if I have to do one more stinking flight search.

I want to stay at the Ramada right on S. May... I wish I could just live there. LOL

Oh I know they're crazy and you can't prevent everything bad from happening, but I would feel a lot better, anyway. It's not that if I found an apartment I loved I'd refuse to live there just because I couldn't get underground the few times (few times a year?) I might need to... It's more like I'll probably take an apartment I like that does have a shelter underground over an apartment I like without one.

The reason the public buildings open up as shelters is that they have underground areas (basements). If they didn't have a basement, they probably wouldn't be a public shelter...

Yea, the school down the street from me is open during severe weather, and they have a basement.

OK...am I missing something? Since when has OCCC become the place to go for out-of-staters? Not that I am complaining, but Maine to Oklahoma is a culture shock! lol

She kept it to 50 because she only invited her close friends . She also is requesting Scott to build her a dance floor, and is checking into hiring a dj. Anna doesn't do anything on a small scale!

Ohhhh, well that's good to know! Less to worry about when choosing an apartment.

I chose OCCC over the more expensive schools that were listed on the Commission on Accredited Allied Health Education Programs' site. We don't have accredited programs for Diagnostic Medical Sonography in Maine, which would mean I couldn't become a nationally registered Sonographer. And on top of all that, if I can go somewhere warmer and more interesting for less money, why not?

You may be right; It may be a culture shock at first, but part of the whole point of me joining this forum was to lessen that shock somewhat by learning what I might expect. And I have to say, I'm very glad that I did; (almost) everyone has been so friendly and helpful!

I thought it was weird, too, when I first saw that someone wanted to come all that way to attend O-trip. Obviously, I think it's a great place since I went there, I just didn't realize they were offering things like that that other schools werent.
