Default THE Tornado. Ten Years Ago

May 3rd. My husband worked a little late, then we picked up our car after work. We'd had it in a shop at 15th and Sooner in Midwest City and, even though it was late, we decided to get it then instead of waiting until the next day. I got home before my husband and had the TV on when he walked in. I said "Charlie, come look at this thing." It was down between Chickasha and Bridge Creek and it was huge. We followed it on TV and knew we'd be OK east of Tinker. We knew a family that had moved from Sacramento to work at Tinker and lived in SW OKC. He was TDY, she was out shopping and the kids made it through OK, covered up in the tub because they'd learned about it in school.

If we had waited to pick up the car, we'd have had to pick it up in pieces because the tornado went right through there. We were fortunate. Thousands of people weren't. Four years later we had a little house damage and lost lots of trees in the May 8 storm. Fortunate again.

I love you, Oklahoma. I miss you. Hugs to all of you who suffered ten years ago.
