Default Oklahoma State Rep. Tried To Have Richard Dawkins Silenced

Science Examiner: 'Anti-evolution' or anti-Dawkins Oklahoma House Resolution 1015 introduced

Isn't the role of a University to allow for a free exchange of ideas regardless of how unpopular they are? Dawkins was allowed to speak thankfully but something is seriously wrong when an elected representative even attempts to strong arm a University into limiting free speech.

I say let Dawkins speak in a debate format with William Lane Craig. Dawkins would get obliterated.

The "source" (a science website is suspect?) basically just posted the proposed resolution. Are you making the claim this incident never happened? They made it up?

Nope, not saying it was made up. Just saying the scientific community has an opinion on evolution. Being a news junkie, I try to get news stories from places that won't have an opinion (hard as that may be).

The source of the story is, in this particular instance, irrelevant.

The fact is that somebody tried to silence another, legitimate, through process because it doesn't fit the agenda of the Christian Fundamentalists. That is just plain wrong.

The source is probably biased, but IMO just let the guy speak. If he's not espousing some kind of hate crap I don't see why the legislature needs to be involved. It seems extreme to me for the legislature to start censuring speech.

I could be wrong, I have been working long hours lately and didn't read the entire article so please forgive.

The bottom line is that although I probably disagree with Dawkins take on things, I suggest that people decide for themselves.

Peace... OUT!

The source always matters. Consider the headline.

Perhaps the bill isn't "anti-evolution" or "anti-dawkins" but more likely, anti-one-sided extremism promoted by a state school.
