Default Neighborhoods in Chickasha?

Depending on the outcome of a job interview we might be moving to Chickasha. Looking on realtor.com we've seen lots of older homes available, which we love. We're currently living in a 1920s-era neighborhood in Dallas and would like to find something similar if we move. Are there areas to avoid? Any with particular charm? Our Dallas neighborhood (Oak Cliff) is much maligned by folks who live in the more affluent areas of Dallas and the surrounding suburbs, but it has way more bark than bite. We don't mind edgy, but have 2 small kids and certainly want to avoid truly dangerous. We also would love a walkable neighborhood - if we can go on foot to parks, stores, schools, etc. all the better. Thanks in advance for your help!

Not real familiar with neighborhoods in Dallas or Chickasha, but from what I recall about both, "Safe" in Dallas would be the high crime area in Chickasha.........

I'm sure that's the case. And since where we live in Dallas is not generally considered safe by many Dallasites (most of whom have never actually ventured into the neighborhood) I think we'd likely be perfectly fine. Thanks much for your feedback!

Not sure how to reply to this post--a friend of mine saw it and sent it to me. I live in Chickasha and am happy to give you more info. We have a house in an older part of town. Actually, the entire central area of town is full of old homes and it is hit and miss as far as the neighborhoods. A big old beautiful home might be right next to a dumpy rental that you wonder if it's a crack house, honestly. You definitely don't want to go north of Choctaw Ave., but I doubt a realtor would even take you that direction--no reason to. Lots of "potentially" great homes in Chickasha--small cottage style....good luck. Oh, walking--sidewalks are also hit and miss as far as quality but the central area is definitely walkable to parks, downtown grocery, post office, farmers market, etc.
