Default NOAA Oklahoma Tornado Map By County

Curious about Oklahoma weather? Worried about tornadoes? The 1999 F5 twister that hit OKC was a mile wide and traveled almost 40 miles. Click any county on the map for 133 years of tornadic activity in that county.

NWS Norman, Oklahoma - Oklahoma/North Texas County by County Historic Tornado Data Map (http://www.srh.noaa.gov/oun/tornadodata/county/tornadomap.php - broken link)

Very cool! NSSL in Norman has some our large super computers that are doing tornado prediction, first of it's kind in the world. The weather models they use requires crunching a lot of data in a short period of time.

I SAW that one! Had just taken our Daughter to work, dodging a nasty hail/rain storm and there was debris and trash all over town. As I drove towards our neighborhood I saw the prettiest snowy white tendril reaching down against a pitch black sky... took me a few minutes to realize what it was!!

And it was in the same direction as our neighborhood...

If I recall correctly, the only serious damage was someone's barn.

Speaking of tornadoes, on my weather site, I just put up a page recalling Stillwater's Friday the 13th Tornado.

There was a Storm Stories episode about the Lone Grove tornado during Tornado Week on the Weather Channel last week. Very interesting show, but very sad that people lost their lives.
