Maybe you should reach out to those around you. Take a few baby steps to making wonderful friends. Criticizing is not the way to do it.
We drove to Shawnee this morning, Choctaw2. Went to St. Gregory's Abbey. Gosh, I love that place. An oasis in the middle of Oklahoma.

I bet Shawnee's changed a lot since you were last here.

or not. Frankly I get tired of whining people........to tell the truth, I get tired of people anyway, the whining just accelerates my desire to vacate their presence.

It was really hot yesterday, and it is supposed to be 101 right now as I am typing (at least that is what the weather.com icon for my zip code on my firefox browser says). I can respond in several ways to the heat. I can do what I am doing now.....stay indoors and watch "Hunt for the Red October" again, I can go outside and sweat a lot as I get some needed stuff done there, I can take a nap, I can go fix a snack, I can prepare for tomorrows class on appraisal ethics, so many things to do, so little time to do it........I can even waste time playing on forums. The one thing I can not do is alter the exterior temperature.

It is the same thing with trash being left behind by others. When I go to a park or a beach or a creek I leave the camp site cleaner than when I arrived.....that was ingrained in me by boy scouts and a wilderness loving father. But I cannot prevent some other person from leaving their camp site a mess or abandoning a plastic drink container when they leave.

I know that I can avoid tailgating. I cannot prevent others from tailgating at 80 mph, and although I don't approve of such actions I prefer to assume they have a good reason for it. Maybe that person driving like that is trying to get to a hospital quickly because their child was bitten by a copperhead, or their spouse had a stroke at the lake, or that they just heard their mother had a haert attack and may not make it over the next 30 minutes. I have no idea, and frankly it doesn't matter. They have a reason for driving like that and it isn't always some irresponsibly juvenile reason. When you get someone driving like that, simply move over and let them by........you might be saving someones life. Either way, I cannot stop them from driving like that so why would I waste time and try to stop them.........even worse why would I go on a public forum to condemn every driver in the state because of one driver that I have absolutely no idea what their motivations are?

For those who consider moving to Oklahoma, we have lots of a$soles here. Also, it gets REALLY hot in the summer. One of the reasons the eastern part of the state is so miserable is because we have LOTS of water and when the temperature is 100+ lots of water evaporates and the humidity is incredible. It comes with being green. Likewise, winters can have really nasty moments. We have ice storms that can devastate woods, trees, cars and houses. We have tornados 300%+ more often as the rest of the nation. During times of drought we have wild fires that can burn entire subdivisions. If you still want to move here, you still have the a$soles like me that won't respect your more elegant lifestyle elsewhere.

If you can shed light on a neighborhood, help someone find a good place to eat, a fun place to play, a quiet place to worship, hear a concert, buy a car, find a friend, do so...........but this nonsensical whining about all the things that are bad is silly. Every state has the same problems, every industrial nation has the same problems, and nothing you do will fix any of them, anywhere in the world you decide to lite............all you can do about it is whine........and I am really tired of grown ups sounding like kindergarten kids who don't get their way.

We're a fun lovin' crowd, kinda rowdy and loud
Our jukebox won't play no sad songs
So don't come in here, and cry in your beer
'Cause we don't care 'bout who done who wrong

Chorus:
We've got a five dollar fine for whining
We'll tell you before you come in
If it ain't on your mind to have a good time
Ya'll come back and see us again

Well we don't really care about your clothes or your hair
This party is open to all
Yeah we like a good joke, and it's alright to smoke
We got just one rule on the wall

Repeat Chorus

Now there's too many fools makin too many rules
That's one thing you can't say about us
Cause we all get along when we sing the same song
There's just one thing that causes a fuss
Ok, current rant over.............have the kind of day you create for yourself and that you both earned and deserve.

I was there in 2003 for a week, it was just lovely. I can't really describe how I felt when I crossed that Oklahoma Texas border out near Sayre but the fruther I drove into Oklahoma on my way to Shawnee I honestly felt like I had come home after a very very long time away. I didn't want to leave but I've done a lot of things I didn't want to do (like live in CA and now NM)

My daughter stopped there last spring and got a lot of pictures for me. What do y'all think of those horse statues around Shawnee? Some are really pretty. And the redbud pictures she made were so pretty.

Default No tail-gating in Las Vegas!

We Las Vegans simply don't have the time for such silly nonsense like tail-gating. We're in too great of a hurry to live, and in a much greater hurry to die!

Here, we just ram the offending vehicle in front of us, sending it careening onto the sidewalk, into a ravine or into the opposing lane of traffic, and we're happily on our way!

LOL!
