TulsaBusiness.com – Tulsa Business online media newspaper Tulsa News ebusiness research journal

Quote:
The Rock ‘n Rib Festival presented by Rib Crib BBQ & Grill will take place on Third Street and Frisco Avenue adjacent to the arena and will feature four days of championship barbecue, concessions, and performances by 13 regional bands.

“We invite the community to join us for this celebration of food and music in Downtown Tulsa. We expect the Rock ‘n Rib Festival to bring tens of thousands of visitors to the streets outside our arena,” said John Bolton, BOK Center general manager.

The Rock ‘n Rib Festival, which will run Sept. 17-20, will be free Thursday and Friday before 1 p.m. and $3 per person all other hours. Children under 12 are free.
Quote:
Seven award-winning teams from across the country will showcase their championship rib recipes. These entrepreneurs compete around the world and pride themselves on their cooking techniques, unique barbecue sauces, beans and coleslaw
Quote:
Bands will include Admiral Twin, My Solstice, the Fabulous Midlife Crisis Band, and The Red Dirt Rangers. Each evening features a different genre of music, ranging from reggae to classic rock to red dirt/country. On Friday evening, “Live Bait,” a Jimmy Buffett cover band from Tampa, Fla., will treat the crowd to a beach party atmosphere.
Rib vendors include:
Desperado’s BBQ, Hinckley, Ohio
Big Boned BBQ, Hixon, Tenn.
Aussom Aussie, Sydney, Australia
Willingham’s World Champion BBQ, Memphis, Tenn.
Coyote Roadhouse, Chicago, Ill.
Rasta Joe’s Jamaican BBQ, Plymouth, Ind.
Johnson's BBQ, Chesapeake, Va.

BTW, you notice it is also sponsored by Tulsa's own Rib Crib

Why are they letting all those Yankee BBQ joints provide the ribs?

Our very own Okie BBQ joints such as Dink's BBQ, Earl's Rib Palace, Van's Pig Stand, and Jake's Rib (to name just a few) would put any of those other places to shame anyhow!
