Here's a panoramic shot of the Stillwater skyline looking from the south. I thought I would make it to have a picture representing a fair weather day in Stillwater for my weather site. It's a road side shot, actually from the fence line taken from W. 44th. The picture could have been better, so I will go back and try to redo it, this time getting the auto focus on the skyline rather than on the trees in the foreground. There were somewhat higher and closer locations a half mile to the NNE and to the west of S. Husband St., but would require venturing on land and violating no trespassing signs to find a clearing in the trees, which I didn't want to do.

In the picture there are a number of well known buildings that can be made out. Beginning on the far left are the OSU dorm towers, the OSU library and the massive Pickens Stadium and next to it the G. I. Arena. In front of that you might be able to make out the new green roof of Old Central and then to the right of that the cupola on the OSU fire station.

To the center right, some downtown buildings can be made out. They are the Payne County Administration Building, First Baptist Church with the big new Payne County Jail behind. Parts of two or three churches can be seen near the Payne County Administration Building. The jail blocks the view of the Payne County Courthouse. A bit further to the right the red building is probably one of the oldest and tallest buildings on Main St. at 3 stories.

If you can make out the tiny blue water tower to the right middle, that's Richmond Hill, located on the far north side of Stillwater. On that hill can be seen the former hq for Stillwater Designs. The other two long white buildings are the Armstrong plant and Mercruiser. Well to the left of the water tower is surely the Quebecor plant.

Finally, on the far right you have the two large buildings of Stillwater Milling and the city water storage tank on Eastern St. Be sure to click on the top of the picture to get a bigger view.

Is that a satellite dish on the outhouse or are my eyes deceiving me? How funny is that?
