Default Meers Store and Restaurant in Meers, OK

GP had the Meers burger which is 7 inches in diameter.

Here is the background on the place. History is fascinating, food so-so and the place needs a thorough cleaning. But the history of the place is fascinating .....

Loved the comment about Meers store needing a cleaning. But then, it wouldn't be Meers without a little trail dust.

Knowing GP, it would be a TX Longhorn burger. My family has original allotment land not too far from Meers. That is a beautiful drive. A lot of history in that area. And thar's gold in that thar crick too!

I don't mind dust ..... filth not so much.

Yes, it is a beautiful drive. We did a job in Altus and decided to take yesterday off and take the scenic route back to OKC. Loved the sign at the beginning of the Wichita Wildlife Preserve about the fact that the roaming buffalo and longhorn are wild and dangerous. Saw a bunch of them, as well as a prairie dog village or two plus a coyote on the move for some prairie dog. Got great pictures.

We are planning on taking the camper back down next March and do some serious camping .....

But filth? Nah

Stopped at the visitor's center and picked up some books. One is on Women of the West.

WOW .... those women were strong. It is sad to see what most women have turned into these days .................

I've been unemployed all Summer and now headed to Corpus Christi for a new job. I'm in a fairly specialized field.

We're heading down to the Wildlife Refuge tomorrow. Maybe we'll do the Meers place for lunch! My oldest son has dairy allergy which makes dining out a real hassle.

Sorry you have to leave but am glad you found a job.

If you go there for lunch tomorrow make sure you get there around 11:30 or so. There are big lines on the weekend and I don;t know if Friday falls there.

They do take-out as well .... perhaps you can call it in, pick it up and your son can still eat what he needs to eat.
