check out www.realtor.com/oklahoma/nbselok
just click on Enid on the state map. The Northwest section of Enid is very nice and safe. Plus, they are building a new mall in that area.

Hello!
I hate to be the sour grape, but my husband and I lived in Sunridge and it was probably one of the worst experiences of our lives. I wish now more than ever that we had just lived on base, or even spent a little extra money and rented a house (the real estate companies around town are more than willing to help you!). The landlord made me and several of the other wives VERY uncomfortable. I have heard several horror stories about crude comments and inappropriate advances he has made on other girls in the neighborhood, and I never felt comfortable walking outside by myself, much less calling him to ask for assistance when something in our condo broke (which MANY things did--ours was not one of the few newer additions and we had to replace the washer/dryer, dishwasher, dig trenches to keep the water out of the front bedrooms when it would rain, and thank goodness we had a vacuum with us when we moved in because the place with FILTHY--and I am not much of a neat freak myself, so when I say filthy, I mean I don't know how someone had lived there before us...besides the spiders and ants).
I am not trying to scare you off, but please please please reconsider your stay at Sunridge (or as the locals call it, "SLUMridge")...you'll be glad you did.
If you have any more questions, feel free to email me!

I forgot the name of the apartments mentioned in this thread before I called Sunridge yesterday. What a rude jerk that guy is! The places sound good on the surface especially with having a garage. So I called. I couldn't believe it when he told me our kids could not live there with us because they are all adults. He said they only allow two adults per unit. What does he do toss kids out on their 18th birthday?! Sounds like housing discrimination to me. Sounds like a guy who wants to keep the moms with no smart adults around, just younger kids, so he can take advantage. Sounds like a creep who needs to be investigated. Is he the owner or the manager?
Mind you my kids are all unmarried and in their early-mid 20s (not gay just late bloomers) but because of financial hardships we have all faced as a family they have all been living at home with us. Now we are contemplating a move to Enid where several us may be getting jobs soon (we will know before we leave here) and since none of us know a soul there we want to stay together until we know the community and are settled into our jobs well enough. I don't think it is unreasonable to want our family all under one roof, especially given the circumstances. I hope this is not standard practice in the area? If so we may not even be able to accept the jobs if they are offered.

Thumbs down Advance Foods A Scam

We fell for their lines hook line and sinker and boy are we being screwed! They offered all kinds of money for relocation and bent over backwards once they finally decided to hire several members of our family. The one stinker in that was the trashy filthy motel they put us up in when we first got here.
My husband and two sons quit their jobs in Texas for what seemed like a better opportunity and we just relocated here right before Christmas and signed a six month lease. Well guess what after working about two weeks they were all fired today. I am apalled at this company! I'm sure they are going to expect us to pay all that relocation money back, about $4,000.
My husband has over 25 years production and warehouse experience in food manufacturing and he wasn't working out for them? Other family members also have food processing experience. I feel they were treated unfairly, especially since two of them were constantly being told how good a job they were doing. I don't think we have been treated fairly and now we are probably in debt up to our necks because of this.

DO NOT APPLY TO WORK AT ADVANCE FOOD! NOT UNLESS YOU WANT TO WIND UP DEEP IN DEBT WITH NO JOB IN A TOWN WHERE YOU ARE A COMPLETE STRANGER!

Default Re: Advance foods scam

I have lived in Enid all my life. I wanted to reply to the Advance Foods scam article, after I read the article I really wanted to let people know what I have heard and know about the company before they move here and take a job with Advance Foods. I work for an apartment complex, which I will not give the name and I have heard MANY tenants stories that moved here to work for Advance Foods and how they were SCAMMED by the company and offered a nice salary, then after they come here they are not given that salary!!! I think this is terrible of the company to do this to people!! I can count at least 5 tenants that I know of that this has happened too!! So BEWARE OF ADVANCE FOODS!!!!

Here is a link to a talk forum from the city of Enid.
Seems to be a fractious community with a lot of political infighting and back bighting.
ALso seems the public employees union there is trying to destroy the town by actively campaigning to defeat a bond issue and sales tax issue that doesn't include pay raises for them.
Take some time to read it carefully.
I have and was appalled and am glad I don't live there.
