I thought this might be helpful for the people who are moving to Oklahoma with have a house in mind and want to know the property tax on that home:
OKAssessor :: Home and select your county and hit Property. If there is not a property button then this county cannot give you the prop taxes.

These are well rounded estimates that most of us cannot give to a person. Although a rough estimate is 1% of the houses value- ex: $140,000 will be about $1400.

I was in the same situation and wondering about the same questions many others ask so after much research and my wife who works for an abstract office showed me this site.

Hope this helps as it only does some counties....

You can also google "(county name) Assessor." Many have all their properties on line and you can see the actual taxes, the owner's name, sq. feet, and selling prices.

Oklahoma County: Leonard Sullivan Oklahoma County Assessor Home Page

Cleveland County: Cleveland County Assessor - Home

I'm sure there are other counties on line. These are just two I use.

No. While this may be a reasonable rule of thumb, the fact that Ad Valorem taxes support school districts, the amount of the property tax is going to depend largely on in which school district the house is located. For example, the mill rate in broken Arrow in the BA school district is very different from the mill rate of Broken Arrow in the Union school district.

The best thing to do is to call the Assessor's office in the county the house is located and ask them what the mill rate is.

State law does fix the assessed value at 11 percent of the taxable market value; from that you would subtract any exemptions (such as homestead exemption) and apply the mill rate to whatever's left. The mill rate in Oklahoma County is usually 120 or less, which means 12 percent of the assessed value; that $140,000 house, taxed on $15,400, would cost $1,848. (Where I live, it's 113.44.)
