Stillwater is located between Okc and Tulsa, and to be honest, I haven't been there in years - many, many years, and I was very young. I hear it's a decent place, and OSU is a good University but as far as the living conditions, apartments, and so on I'm afraid I can't help you. Somebody out there want to help mano0o out? I wish you the best of luck in your move. I think you'll like Stillwater; I hear good things about it. I don't know if there are any Indian restaurants there, but the ones in Tulsa do rock.. Once again, I wish you the best of luck in your studies and stay in Stillwater!

As the mother of a former OSU student, I will say that I love Stillwater as a community and OSU. I think its a great place for a kid to live and to learn to be "on their own". The school itself is quite diverse, and I always got the impression there was support for the students if they had any issues or concerns. There are a lot of nice rental properties in Stillwater but the campus housing is nice too. The towers are being torn down and apartment-style housing is becoming the norm on campus. Some rentals are a bit on the expensive side, but that is common in a college town. I cannot say whether there is an Indian restaurant in Stillwater - I never saw one - but there are lots of places to eat in town and on campus. Also, my son was satisfied with the medical care he got at the Campus clinic. He also used the dentist and doctors in the community and was taken care of.

As far as the weather - there are all 4 seasons in Stillwater - you will have some snow and ice in the winter as well as thunderstorms in the spring, and the wide range of temps that go with the seasons. I don't think severe weather is any more of an issue in Stillwater than other parts of the state.

If you need something (over the counter meds, clothing, supplies) the Wal-mart is open 24 hrs. a day. There is a lot of shopping available in Stillwater.

I hope you'll enjoy living in Stillwater and be open to the possibilities awaiting you in college. Its a great place!

Welcome, manoOo. I imagine that you will like Stillwater. I think you can find other information on this website about the place as I have seen it before.

Okay, Synopsis,

I love Indian food. Where can I find these restaurants in Tulsa? You may make me a fan of Tulsa yet. And do they have Vietnamese, Greek, and other Mediterranean restaurants?

The last time we were there, we went to the India Gate Restaurant. It's at the following address:

7875 E 71st St

It was delicious. My wife lived in Seattle for a number of years and said the food at the India Gate was as good as she's ever had. I loved it too - I love curry!

India Palace has gotten consistently good reviews, although I haven't been there in awhile, we liked that one as well. Then there's the Desi Wok, which is East Asian and Indian, and Indian Corner (in Broken Arrow). There's not a ton of Indian Restaurants in Tulsa, at least not really large ones, but there are smaller ones of the beaten path - tucked away into neighborhoods.

I really loved India Gate; it's nothing fancy, but the food was excellent and the service wonderful.

As far as Vietnamese, Greek, and other Mediterranean, just do a search on Tulsa Restaurants or Tulsa Greek/Vietnamese Restaurants on google and some of the better known ones may pop up. Keep in mind that you won't get a complete list - because some of the restaurants just don't bother to advertise alot, especially the smaller ones. I'll talk to some of my friends that live there and see if they can recommend some local favorites.

There's already been a lot told. Maybe I can add some more. Stillwater is at its greenest this name of year and can stay that way until fall if the summer isn't too hot and dry. There are lots of trees especially in older neighborhoods. In southwest Stillwater, where the most expensive homes are, trees thicken up like a forest.

Stillwater is 65 miles from Tulsa and Oklahoma City, or in others words an hour's drive away.

The Links on N. Washington is a nice apartment complex recently built. But like one poster said, OSU also has some nice recently built apartments you may want to check out.

Crime is low. But avoid living in 40 North Apartments. It is nicknamed Murder North.

The last time Stillwater was hit by a tornado was in 1990. So tornadoes aren't very common. You will probably be safe from most tornadoes as long as you don't live in a trailer house or hit the streets in a panic looking for shelter when there's a tornado warning in effect. In the 1990 tornado the upper floors to some of the apartment complexes on N. Perkins Rd. were partly destroyed, so best to be on the ground floor of a building in one of the smallest rooms in the event of a tornado in Stillwater, or a basement, if available.

There is no Indian restaurant. There is a Thai restaurant, if that is helpful.

Stillwater has been growing fast in recent years and with it growing pains, meaning on several of the major streets there is construction going on to widen them to 4 lanes, or make other needed improvements.

There are no skyscrapers in downtown Stillwater but the tallest building in Stillwater, Stillwater Milling's grain elevator is tall like a skyscraper. I hope you will enjoy your college stay in Stillwater. Below are some photos of Stillwater:

OSU's newest housing. On far right is the old style Kerr dormitory tower.

A small portion of Boomer Lake Park shown with fountain. A wide sidewalk circles the lake, great for walking or bicycling.

Early Fall in southwest Stillwater. Shown is W. 19th Ave. A portion of it is currently being 4 laned.

Stillwater Milling, downtown's biggest building.
