OK_Bound,

I'm guessing you meant for the Confederacy....and typoed Yankees.

The Native Americans (in my case my Choctaw/Creek ancestors) were promised the opportunity to keep their land by Confederate/Southern leadership....at least that is what I've always heard.

You have to remember that there was a very anti-government/politician sentiment (also evident in the Confederacy) among Native Americans...perhaps the NA viewed the North more allied with political leaders, many of which they despised. Andrew "Black Heart" Jackson (common expression you'll hear NA call Andrew J. along with "Great Devil") had already made his hatred of NA evident. Time after time Black Heart went against treaties already in place in which the NA were promised to keep certain lands in the Southeast.

A lot of us have a Battle Flag up in our room or in the yard. It shouldn't mean any harm, it's simply Oklahomans being proud of their Southern Heritage. It makes a lot of us mad that these racist groups have turned the flags of the Confederacy into a symbol of hatred. Blacks, Whites, and Native Americans fought under the flags. If you're from the Oklahoma, I feel that you have the right to be proud of the flags. Just another opinion.

Love the Stars & Bars, esp. the 13 star version but the battleflag, also beautiful, is the one most people are familiar with.

To get back on track, in Stillwater you're more likely to see the OU flag rather than the Confederate flag. Both are rare sights.

There should be no issue displaying this flag. You might run into a few people in the metro areas that may make a comment, but the flags are commonplace in OK. Fly it with pride. I had one on my last vehicle for years.

You almost never see a Confederate flag in Oklahoma, it's really rare. At least in northeastern Oklahoma.

And you should not fly it, it is a symbol of slavery and a racist icon.
