Hello,

we're moving to Enid from Europe, and we're looking forward to rural quiet and lots of space after crowded, cramped living this side of the Atlantic - can anyone recommend a nice area outside Enid with a really great elementary school? We'd like to hear crickets at night, and see the starry skies, that sort of place (but not so isolated that it gets creepy after dusk).

thanks!

Sorry, but the area around Enid is just mainly dull, ruler flat countryside.

It is rather flat around Enid, but some folks like that. As for elementary schools, check out GreatSchools.net, they're a great resource for finding out all you can about schools in a given area. Hearing crickets at night and starry skies are also available.

They are renovating the old historic downtown. Above is part of that restoration.

A funny anecdote. My older brother was the a prominent law enforcement official in Enid for many, many years back in the 70s. Funny thing is we never went and visited him and his family in Enid - they always came to visit us. I wish we would have visited the area, because I've always been curious to experience Enid firsthand. Some pics off city data's main website:

One thing I do recall, it can get pretty cold in Enid in the Winter.

It's not bad manners berica. I just chose it at random, and picked one of the first things that came to mind. Pretty unexciting huh?
