Default Oaklahoma weather????

I keep hearing the old " it's not the heat it's the humidity" thing when talking about Oaklahoma,
So my question is, Is the weather like Hawaii? or even more humid? and hotter?
We are coming to visit in August, going to look for some property for retirement........ Should be hot and humid..........

Who knows as rainy as the weather has been lately. Maybe in August we'll still be struggling to make it to a 100 degrees. Yes, it will probably just be typically hot and humid in August but not as awful bad as the Gulf states, especially Florida.

No, it's not as humid as Hawaii, or as humid as in states to the south and east, but it can get humid at times. It also depends on which part of Oklahoma you're talking about. The Western part of the state is very dry, but the population is minimal there. When most people ask "what's the weather like in Oklahoma," in regards to humidity they are generally talking about the areas from Oklahoma City Eastward, where it is more humid than in the less populated Western part of the state. In my opinion, the humidity is not as heavy in OkC as it is in Tulsa.

Thanks for the answer, I guess I should have given a better location, I did mean the Tulsa, Muskogee area. I guess we should be just fine as we both like the weather in Hawaii...

Just got back from NE OK, yes, it was humid, but the temps weren't as high as say, Dallas. We noticed it some, no worse than we expected considering the wetness in the past few weeks. The best part, it is so nice to walk inside. No, really it wasn't as bad as we thought it would be.

Hope somewhere you are talking about your trip. Welcome back Nita. That is so funny that you said that the best part is walking inside. When I am in a store and I walk outside I just think that is the best part. Now I may not think that when it really gets hot, but I love it at this moment.

When I was still working in the Dallas area, the office was kept so cold I too looked forward to walking out at 5pm every afternoon. I would just stand there, no matter how hot it was and thaw out.

Cali,

I wish I had an answer for you. Give me a few weeks and I will come back and tell you. We have yet to have our summer here. I live 30 minutes east of Muskogee in Tahlequah.

What I can tell you is, I also lived in Mississippi and the Florida panhandle, so I know about humidity. So I will be able to compare soon. So far I have not suffered from this humidity since it is only 87 degrees here at this time, and I am not sure how high the humidity has been, but it has felt good to me. I can say that I really hated Florida's. I lived near Dallas and in San Antonio and can't remember if there was humidity or not. I lived in Laredo, Texas, and it was so hot I couldn't stand it, but I am not sure if it was humid or not.

nmnita,

Did you decide on AR or OK? I think you would be happy in either place.

Hi Jessaka, actually we are going to look at two more places: Russellville, AR and Neosho, Mo before we decide, but right now we are certainly leaning toward Grove. We rules out some of the places for various reasons, we loved Bella Vista and yet, it may be a little to controlled for us. I think I prefer more varied demographics. Don't get me wrong, it was beautiful and a wonderful town, with lots of community spirit, but I am not sure it is quite us. Thanks for asking, Nita

First, before you move there, you need to know how to spell the state's name. Second, I hope you like tornado's tearing apart your home. There's lots of them ... yearly!
