Default Coop?

Another good option might be joining the Oklahoma Food Cooperative. Usually your purchases are picked up from a site in your area, but home delivery is also available. [url=www.oklahomafood.coop/]

If you live here in the OKC area... I-240 and Penn; The Health Food Center... it beats Akins hands down in choices and amount of stock. It is the largest health food store in Oklahoma outside of Wild Oats in Tulsa... which I wish to God they would bring here to OKC. There was talk of Whole Foods coming to OKC but that has been shelved indefinitely... If I remember right, Whole Foods bought out Wild Oats but Wild Oats is keeping their name anyway.

Did'nt know about the Native Root store opening in Norman... will have to check that out. Meanwhile, I'll have to put up with a drive to T-Town or South OKC for the good health food stores.

I looked at the Oklahoma Food Coop website. They have really done a good job of getting people together to do this and they have handmade items as well. This is an amazing group.

OKC has Akins and OKC Organics among other small wonderful organic markets. Norman, has at least a few big organic grocery stores...same with edmond. Along with the nurmerous farmers markets. Whatever, my point is simple- JUST WAIT 2 YEARS. #1- Wild oats has been taken over by whole foods. If you do any research on OKC you can find a lot of big time names that are coming to town. OKC has changed significantly over the past ten years. To even begin to think that OKC cant deliver on a high end grocery store is flat out silly. Dont fool yourself by believing that a whole foods has been shelved. If you know where Nichols Hills Plaza is and if you were to know Chesapeakes CEO Aubrey McClendon then you would not be complaining about any sort of plush organic grocery store. NHills Plaza was bought by Aubrey and he has plans to make it his crown jewel. He has already secured a very high end organic grocery store(he has to replace Cresent Market!) along with Sprinkles(look it up). OKC is on its up and coming list with MAJOR cities for the next Sprinkles location. He wants to rival Highland Park- which many NH families agree that he will suceed because of the HUGE amount of money he is investing(he is from NHills and is a billionaire). I love Utica Square but he has plans to make NH plaza better(dont kill me tulsa). This might help you to understand the vision and realize the emphasis of urban living that is expected by OKCITIANS. They are also planning on a whole foods for downtown residents. Question- do you know of any MAJOR cities with an NBA team or Pro team that doesnt have the the things everyone desires? Well plans are in place. You might as well spread the good word instead of being so pestimistic about the renaissance of a city that is way to obvious to ignore.

thanks for whatever input you may have - and I'd love to hear from anyone who lives in Enid and could share their views / info about it!
Hi, I see no one has mentioned my favorite store which is the Health Food Center located at S.W. 74TH & Pennsylvania or at I-240 and Pennsylvania. They have I think a much larger selection of Produce & Fruit than Akins and they are usually much cheaper. They also have an excellent assortment of Dairy Products, grocerys, supplements and Sports & Fitness Dept. They hold seminars several times a month with nationally known speakers. Hope this is helpful
