Why aren't there any major league teams in Omaha? It's larger than other cities that have teams? Is there no support or is it a money issue or what?

Omaha isn't large enough. It ranks 60th in the USA among metropolitan areas in population, according to this table.

Its not just population. For example, Omaha is bigger than Green Bay. Some of its just historical. Plus, if you factor in the Lincoln area they would have a substantial fan base. But its not about the # of fans...its about marketability. Any major pro team would regularly sell out seats in Omaha, but ultimately advertisers would be fewer (and thus team revenue) just because of the surrounding population base. Plus, a lot of the cities that are smaller than Omaha obtained their teams decades ago, when the money involved was much less. Green Bay is a perfect example. Right now, there is no way a team would move into Green Bay and really the only reason the Packers have stayed is because the city owns the team. If they would have an individual owner they would have moved to more lucrative pastures long ago.

That said, I'm a little surprised that Omaha doesn't have a NHL team yet. I think the population base is enough to sustain a NHL team just because its a smaller market in general. However, the NHL itself has been seriously hurting in recent years, so I wouldn't expect anything soon.
