I took a ride into the city today crossed over 120th street, but not over 72nd I did hit NFM also. The reason to venture over was to check out the new 15,000 foot Asian superstore.

"Asian Market" just north of dodge and a stones throw from the Golden Corral and Toys R Us.

This is going to be a bitter sweet review:

The store was well organized with the sections easy to locate items. The produce section was excellent it even had a few things that I will be trying out in the near future.

I have been to asian markets in NYC, LA, Hawaii and Toronto I think that this place will be my new asain hangout..........only if..................


As I walked thru the front doors I was hit with an overwelming smell or close to stench of fish. It is really bad. I made my way to the back of the store and found a good selection of fresh fish, live crabs and lobsters. The smell got worse as you go closer to the counter. I know some of you will just say that is what fish markets smell like and that is what to expect......no not that bad. I almost lost it.

All in all I think the place will be good for Omaha and should thrive only if they can get the smell under control.

I give the place a rating.

That's the Old Country Buffet actually. Good review though.

I actually thought that it smelled much better than many Asian markets that I have been to. If you want stank, then go to the one a a couple blocks west on Cass st.

I was hoping the place would have a deli that serves hot food like whole roast ducks like a lot of Asian stores in biggers cities.

I did see some roast duck that had been packaged for sale in to-go boxes.

Great review. Any chance someone tasted the roast duck ? I wonder if they have the crispy pork belly also.

Definitely have to check this out sometime.

I wonder if they have durian crisps....god how I love those things. Up till now I've only been able to get them from a friend who would visit Thailand fairly regularily.
