Alltel - Probably best boarder to baorder coverage in the state.

Cricket

If you travel anywhere out of town, then Alltel is the clear winner. IN town it's almost a tossup (You can price shop). If Sprint fits you best, they roam on Alltel. Get more cellular info at Nebraska Cellular Review web page.

Call them and ask them, there is no other way to tell.

Also, this thread is old and outdated in its recommendations.

My family is with Altell, and much happier after switching away from Verizon.

Yes, I know that Verizon bought out Altell, but that was after I switched. My problem with Verizon was that their "plans" always had weird little loop holes that ended up costing me an AVERAGE of about $40 per month MORE than it was supposed to be. Multiply that by 24 months!

We've been with Altell for almost a year now. It's a better program for me, and every bill has been the same every month - right down to the penny. None of this Verizon billing crap.

I've had four different services. Currently, my personal cell provider is Alltel. I actually had them once before but switched to Verizon due to the cost of the plan. I really enjoy Alltel because the coverage is good and the price is great. As others have stated, Alltel was recently acquired by Verizon so I'm switching back once again. Verizon is good but a bit on the pricey side even though they have great coverage out of state. I also had Cricket for a couple of years several years ago. Again, they were good but not great. At that time, it was limited especially as you travelled.

Professionally, I have Sprint and have not had any issues with service though I've only used in the Omaha Metro Area and in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I have Alltel and have had good experiences. Although, my house seems to be in a "dead zone." I can never get decent service at my house and have to travel a block away to get good service!

Unless that particular phone number been transferred to another provider, 402-709-8xxx is operated by Verizon.

I have used Alltel and AT&T. With Alltel the only dead zone I know of was along the Platte River near Mahoney State Park. Switched to AT&T in 2007 and the signal tends to be weaker in many places but still works. 1-2 bars at home, despite that the tower is only a little over a mile away (blocked by a hill). Coverage is bad in and around Westroads. However, AT&T is the exclusive provider for the iPhone, so I can't complain too much (as an iPhone user).
