Sounds like you are telling on how our media has been for the last eight years in reporting about President Bush and now about the Iraq war. Just wanting to report the things that are nasty and most likely a bunch of dramatic lies.

Don't get me wrong, if something bad is going on I want to know about it, but I want the truth! If something positive is going on I want to know about it, but I want the truth! I don't want to hear twisted stuff simply because that's what the media thinks we want to hear! I watch the news to see what is really going on, not to see a bunch of less than half true stories that have been butchered to be more dramatic! ![]() |

Hey Jesse!!!...Look I can clip and paste July dog attacks, too!
Science Daily (press release) - Rhode Island newborn killed by family dog (July 14) -- A Rhode Island couple's Siberian husky dog attacked and killed their first child. TROY - The fate of a 70-pound chow that attacked a 2-year-old boy in his babysitter's yard Tuesday morning will be decided by a judge Aug. 3, city Animal Control Officer Kevin McDonough said. ORLANDO, Fla. -- A 12-year-old Orlando girl is recovering after a dog attacked her and pulled her from her bicycle. Lelah Gainey suffered injuries to her leg after the 80-pound Labrador attacked as she rode past the leashed pet on Lake Emerald Drive on Monday. Please spend a little more time 'thinking' rather than just clipping and pasting this BS media hype. How about this: Some 95 percent of the attacks on humans come from dogs that have not been spayed or neutered, and 70 percent of the attacks were committed by unneutered males. Do you think owners can do something to reduce dog bites by reading the above sentence? |

I was looking for some dog attacks to post links to and I stumbled across this... "The latest dog report by the Department of Local Government reveals that 873 attacks were reported to councils in the year ending June 2005 and German shepherds bit more people than any other pure breed, followed by cattle dogs and rottweilers"... "Labradors, border collies and Jack Russell terriers are among the top 15 most commonly reported as having attacked people" I know it's not 2007, but I thought it was interesting, I figured I would share it.

Here is MOTHER OF ALL DATABASES on dog attacks in the U.S. -- -- notice the STAGGERING, UNDISPUTABLE number of PITBULL attacks in comparison to other breeds. Last edited by jesse--james; 07-23-2007 at 05:57 PM. Reason: Wrong link |

I personally don't trust these statistics. Not only that, it's well known that people cannot even visually identify three breads of pit bulls. To most of the people, they are all the "same" as well as the breeds that look like them. That's why "pit bull" breads got such a bad rep.

Jesse,
I don't think anyone is really arguing that pitbulls lead to more attacks. However, they are disputing why the attacks are occurring. Pitbulls are physically ideal for fighting and for that reason many are trained and treated as such. As a result, these maltreated pits are going to be more likely to be involved in an attack. The point is if you get rid of pits then some other breed would just displace them on your chart because the people who breed dogfighters will just move onto to abuse another breed or set of breeds. Again, pits may be involved in more attacks, but it doesn't mean the breed is inherently more bloodthirsty...it means the people who are bloodthirsty choose pits because of their physical make up. |

And here's an opening quote...quite telling in itself.
Due to the exclusion of dogs whose breed type may be uncertain, this is by no means a complete list of fatal and otherwise serious dog attacks. and Matt Poulson is absolutely correct - if we wiped out the pit breed from the face of the earth, the sick minded of the world would move on to Rottweilers - get rid of them, they go to German Shepherds - get rid of them, they go to whatever. Eventually you will have chickens fighting - oh, wait, that's being done already..... |

Yeah other breeds bite people too!!! But the difference is that you had go all the way back to 2005 to find them! All those pitbull attacks that I posted happened within the LAST MONTH. -- and every month about two pages of hits with fresh attacks by pitbulls come into the queue.
