I am sure my dogs are in attack mode - them laying on their cushions in the bedroom or the two in the bed with us at night with four paws in the air and their tongues hanging out - that is a disguise known only to the Rottweiler breed. Others may imitate, but they are in stealth mode.
May the force be with me. Now I lay me down to sleep.....

Nip and tuck all the way, lastra...I couldn't decide if the dogs were snoring or growling, but I bet my life on the fact that they were indeed in a deep sleep since their eyes were closed and they were all on their backs having doggy dreams.....whew, it was close....and to think, I have to face it again tonite! Maybe they are just masters of disguise????

What are you so upset about Jesse_James? If this is, indeed your passion, then why don't you channel it into something more productive? If you don't like the statistics, then put your money where your mouth is. Go out there, find a group to lobby with who share your perspective, and quit badgering this group. It seems the majority of these dog owners share the same position---one of responsibility. Take responsibility for your position, and go put it to use somewhere. I believe you may find more satisfaction in that. Or, you can keep on with it here. But I have a feeling, you're barking up the wrong tree.

"You know sooo much about these dogs.. correct? So, why don't you explain all of the above to me? These are the true "pit bulls", the majority of "pit bulls"! Maybe you should do some research instead of believing all of the myths and twisted around media hype!
Just because THOSE dogs haven't gone apesh*t yet doesn't mean that the hundreds of attacks that happen each year by that breed (or amalgamation of breeds- of which you so fiercely police.) aren't happening. The fact remains that the attacks DO happen, and the there is a trail of broken children and dead dogs of other breeds in their wake. It's a shame that this breed/these breeds has/have had such rampant instability bred into it/them.
Oh, and do you understand what breeds are considered "pit bulls" now?? Just in case, one more time.. American Pit Bull Terriers are considered "pit bulls", American Staffordshire Terriers are considered "pit bulls" and Staffordshire Bull Terriers are considered "pit bulls". Bull Terriers are not considered "pit bulls".
yeah yeah these three A.K.C. registered breeds -- and any dog that has 25% or more of these breeds in them.
Thank you for clarifying that -- perhaps your stringent identification of Pitbulls can be used in legislation to ban them so that we can enact an accurate ban!!

Are you a dog owner Jess_James? Are you a dog trainer? Are you a vet? Are you a K-9 trainer? Search and Rescue? Are you a dog bite survivor? I'm just curious...aside from your apparent ability to retrieve statistical information from a massive database, (that is...I'm sorry to say, a bit flawed, ) what kind of experience do you have to validate your position? Do you believe that media coverage in the United States is designed to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth? In the court of the American public, I do not believe the media is held to this standard. So as the consumer, are you truly willing to swallow all the media is feeding you, without questioning why?

Oh, Talyamc - I gotta spread the love before repping you again -but that was absolutely FUNNY!
Too bad the video was born of a tragedy, but it's sort of amusing to imagine, isn't it?
Kudos to your last post - you are spot on.

Sam, buddy ....pal..... all that means is that the number of serious attacks is actually GREATER than what was used for the study. They had to exclude many of the pitbull mixes and rot mixes from the numbers because they want to be accurate. Thanks for trying kiddo......

and Matt Poulson is absolutely correct - if we wiped out the pit breed from the face of the earth, the sick minded of the world would move on to Rottweilers - get rid of them, they go to German Shepherds - get rid of them, they go to whatever. Eventually you will have chickens fighting - oh, wait, that's being done already.....

Um, no....I looked at your study....and it specifically mentions mixes, even the mix they "think" it is.....and what is a Rottweiler "mix" in many people's eyes is a DAWG in my eyes. All in the eye of the beholder. I have a Rottie now that is papered out the wazoo.....I'm telling you, that dog is a bloodhound/Rottweiler mix from somewhere WAY back in her history....long old floppy ears and snout - but by golly she has papers, so they're gonna call her a Rottweiler. Her mama must have been a ho'....LOL! But she's MARKED like a Rottie, as is my little guy, Ben, who only weighs 60 lbs. That is NOT a Rottweiler....it's NOT.....but because he has a docked tail and the appropriate markings, should he get completely stupid and bite someone, the media is going to say "Vicious Rottweiler Attacks!"....not "stupid mutt had a stupid moment". That's where we're all sideways - the dogs that are not actually the "breed" that is so feared are being persecuted too....and people would rather squint their eyes and see a Rottweiler and start screaming to put it down rather than say, "dumb a$$ dog", make me pay the medical bills, and send us all home, which is what happens with muttskys much of the time.
You will never have to fear my dogs - they all live in the house, they do NOT leave my yard other than a brief walk daily (I have 3/4 acre, we just walk to stay up on our leash manners)...one is a therapy dog...I'm sorry, but I have issues with anyone telling me the Rottweiler doesn't make a good companion...I have 4 true rotties and a couple that will pass (the hound and the ..... whatever he is....)....and I resent the attitude from people who tell me "all" Rottweilers are "born to kill", "vicious", whatever is the adjective of the moment. And that's where this movement is headed - ALL are being judged by a few. I have no idea how close your stats are to being right and I won't argue them - but you make it sound as if every dog counted in that study is all the Rotties or Pitties there are in the world....for every daschaund that bites, there are a million more that don't...but whatever - I won't debate it any more with you. I think the incident was a tragedy - but in another life way long ago, I was a police officer - and I'm sorry, but the government doesn't tell the truth, the press doesn't tell the truth, and the public SURE as hell doesn't tell the truth. There's way more to this particular story than is being told. Mark my words....I promise you, there's something else here.
