It takes only 10% of the registered voters signatures on a petition to start a recall election. The worst thing about it is our judicial system is allowing forged signatures to go through. People on the witness stand said they found their name on the database and when they looked at the petition the signature wasn't theirs. So they had the witnesses sign their names on a separate document which revealed it wasn't their own signature.

dont this put to rest the lie that the paper is somehow a "republican" machine,

despite the fact that most omaha world herald journalists and reporters are democrats.
Yeah, I've heard several times on Sux news that the judge is trying to determine if the corruption was widespread enough to overturn the recall.

I thought the judge was trying to determine "if" there was corruption. Not how much. So much for being bias.

I think there is a very real chance this recall gets thrown out.

I kind of hope it goes through, so when the vote goes back through, Suttle will be re-elected and it will show all the recall people how rediculous most of the population of Omaha thinks they are.

We have to either Cut Spending or Raise taxes. Obviously we are against raising taxes? So maybe we should cut spending. But it doesnt seem there is much to cut... has anyone considered our needless welfare? Or is this all federal funds that go into our states welfare?

I'd be very surprised if it gets thrown out. According to the OWH (Recall ruling likely on Thursday - Omaha.com), most of the phony signatures presented as "evidence" of widespread fraud were already thrown out during the petition certification process. Even if some of the certified signatures are now determined to be invalid, there are over 2,000 that would need to get thrown out. I just don't see that happening. Forward Omaha's basic argument is that because they found a few phony signatures (but not enough to make up the difference), the fraud was widespread and all of the signatures should be invalidated. At that point, it becomes a lot of "he said/she said" finger-pointing. It'd be hard for a judge to do much with that type of testimony.

I've also heard stories of people who legitimately signed the petition but their name didn't appear on the OWH's list, meaning their signature wasn't counted. That type of thing can work both ways.

That's only one issue though. You also have the issue of paying people per signature and the misleading statements that the petitioners were caught on camera giving to people considering the petition. Both of those are major no-no's and could easily result in this being thrown out.

Most likely that would be from people that did not fill in the petition correctly. In order for ones signature to count one needs to know their name, address and birth date AND those must match what is on ones voter registration. Quite frankly if someone can't get those 3 basic bits of informaton correct one should question if they should be signing anything.

I dropped the paper a couple years ago. It turned into a biased piece of trash that was no longer worth reading.

As an adult, I choose to be given FACTS and all the FACTS. I can draw my own conclusions.

The TV stations are the same way. It's sad what is passed off as journalism these days.

you are so right. Omaha TV News has plenty of evidence our local media is somewhat of a joke.
