As much as I love Netflix (in the mail or streaming), Red Box, and Family Video, there's nothing like going to a theatre and watching a flick. Having said that, the wife and I only go to 5-6 movies per year and then it's usually on opening night.

I wouldn't know, but there's a couple in the area that have gone up in just the last few years.

Don't forget the $2 theater (Westwood Cinema) Westwood Cinemas - Google Maps Not the best quality, but a cheap way to see a movie in a theater! As for the new theater that generated this post......I can't wait until my wife and I get a date night so we can go and check it out!

We went to Aksarben last weekend to see the new Harry Potter movie (the kids...it was the kids who wanted to see it, lol)-went to the early showing, and yep- 5 bucks before noon, very pleased with that! The theater was very nice, and the people who worked there were extremely friendly-

As nice as new theaters are, I am looking for info about old theaters in Omaha. My brother and I are trying to find someone or somewhere we can get the names of the neighborhood theaters. I remember the Beacon at 24th & Ames, the Minna Lousa on N 30th. I can't seem to find any info. Google only came up with the past 20 or so years. I'm looking at the 1950's and up. If anyone can help would be much appreciated.

Great pics of the new ones.

Papio Theatre - a one screen in downtown Papillion just over the bridge. Growing up we went there probably 2 sunday's per month.

The building and the structure of the original sign are still there, but now its a church. Before that was a concert facility (The Rock) and been a church at least 2 other times in its history. Would love to see it revert back to an retro theatre - maybe showing artsy or hard to find films - but that probably wouldn't turn a profit. Cool little building with lots of memories from growing up.

There's still the Dundee Theatre on 49th & Dodge that plays old movies (mostly midnight showings) and occasionally new releases. Right now they are showing "The Fighter" which is a new release.
