News stations are already hyping up the up and coming snow storm. Apparently we are all going to die. Feel free to record your harrowing stories of survival over the next few days.

Hy-Vee was as busy as it was December 23rd today. People are FREAKING OUT! I bet it will be 6-8 range and probably school closings b/c of the hype more than actual snowfall.

Agreed. Omaha schools will wimp out at the first snow flake.

raphael, so true. OPS has 6 wimpy board members who in 2012 need to be replaced. (coughs, folks need to in 2012 run against Jensen and Borer)

btw: love the 2 new OPS board members. they a lot better than Sophir and McGregor.

I also find it funny raphael that kids cant make it to school due to a little snow, (and I am all for safety)

but they can make it to the library in a foot of snow to play runescape.

I-80 was closed down due to more than 20 car accidents in a short time period. Unless you have a 4 wheel drive, it's self-destructive to get in a car today. Yet one more reason to build and live in walkable areas.

Listening to the scanner (you can listen for free on radioreference.com or using a free app for your iPhone/Android device), there have been a lot of personal injury accidents, many involving running into a ditch or hitting a light pole. Those silly light poles just sneak up on you in this weather.

Please billiefan, runescape is old news for high schoolers. Now we walk through 5 ft of snow to go play COD with our friends.

I drove my 20 miles in my Honda Civic. Common sense gets you there safely.

And yes, the news reporters have gone on their 24 hour shifts outside their appointed intersections waiting for the live report. They are chomping at the bit to show sessions on air where they talk about Jim from Omaha whom hates the snow, because he only has the shovel his dad gave him 20 years ago and Mark from Millard whom loves it because he got a new slow blower. Inbetween their times on camera they pile up mounds of snow and dry hump them, because they LIVE FOR THIS!

Omaha Public Library is apparently closing at 4PM today.

Driving slowly and carefully are the two best snow driving tips. Unfortunately people still drive too fast.

Snowstorms are to Midwest reporters as hurricanes are to those on the east coast.
