Moving to Omaha soon, and need to choose a neighborhood in a good school district. Are there any local resources that attempt to rate the best public schools in the greater Omaha metro area? The only one I know of, is GreatSchools.org. That website is helpful, but I'd like other websites, as well. Or maybe some links to some newspaper or magazine articles. Just anything that can give me some direction, beyond just a few people's personal opinions on what schools they like or do not like.

As another potential Omaha newbie to another, might I suggest the State of the Schools report? I believe that every state must have a school report card now.

The limitations of this, unfortunately, are that it’s usually just numbers. There’s a large element of test scores that is simply dependent upon the socio economic status of the population of the school that there’s often little about the scores that tells anything about the quality of the teachers and administrators. You might be able to drill down a bit by demographic, but still, that’s just stats.
