Default Bennington - Tell me everything you know about Bennington community and schools

We are relocating from eastern Iowa to Omaha soon. As we start our home search, we are focusing on some of the newer housing developments just south of Bennington (where Military crosses State Street). We're looking there due to proximity to families. Please tell me anything important to know about the community, and especially the school district. Reasons why it would be great, or reasons to maybe avoid the area. We have 4 young children, with our oldest entering 5th grade in the fall. Also, I heard they voted on a school bond issue last November. Did that pass or fail?

We moved to the Ridgemoor neighborhood a couple of years ago and we love it. Ridgemoor is very close to the area that you're considering. It's just south of State on 144th Street. My wife and I don't have children so I can't speak to the schools but I've heard good things. I believe that the school bond was rejected though I voted for it. Ours is a Hearthstone as is the one you're considering. The houses are fairly well built though they all look very similar and have smallish yards.

The neighborhood is very quiet and a bit out of the way which are two of the primary reasons we decided to move here. We can walk our dog at night and feel safe. Crime is virtually non-existent. My only gripe is that we don't have a good bar or restaurant very close. Fortunately, Maple Street is only 10-15 minutes away. Let me know if you have questions.
