In fact, it's currently the 3rd most popular item on the entire site. Only the ability to apply for permits online and after school children/teen programs are more supported.Could this be the catalyst that finally results in legitimate public transportation returning to Omaha?

Would be nice to see! Though I would hope that we would get more in the way of streetcars like Omaha use to have and not the things that look more like modern subway cars (traditionally associated with light rail).

Though that said, I would likely not use such a system, less they would allow bicycles to be brought aboard. like this

Are you talking about light rail that looks like historical streetcars, or actual streetcars? If it's the former, I would be happy with it. The later, not so much.

actual streetcars, just like omaha had in the 50's on back.

Yeah I'd have to say that's a no go for me. I'd take it if there was no other option (beggars, choosers kinda thing) but in my not so humble opinion it would be a big mistake for Omaha to implement a touristy style street car system in lieu of a legitimate mass transit option in a Denver style light rail.

I think a streetcar system would be a more effective start to Omaha's public transit. It seems a lot more cost effective at this point for the amount of people it would affect. Streetcars from midtown and around downtown would spur a lot more urban development than light rail lines that stop on 168th street. Both eventually is the goal, but streetcars first.

They don't make that version anymore , they have been using sleeker cars in North America since 2002 on most systems.

Hey welcome back! I was just wondering about you the other day, hoping you would chime in on this topic.

Anyways, my main gripe with the Denver RTD is the paint scheme. The white with reddish orange stripe is very underwhelming IMO. Personally I'd like to see them be a silver or dark metallic gray with white and red or blue accents. Make it less "bland" without sticking out like a sore thumb. Here is a neat example. Kinda like the sea green color on the bottom.
