I have to say I am very disappointed to live in a state / city that hands out slap on the wrist sentencing to drunk or intoxicated drivers.

Seems you can you can have 7 previous DUI arrests then get high on meth go drive a car get into a wreck send a man to the hospital for a year, then get 14 months in jail out in 11. Oh, sorry I forgot they did take away his drivers licence for 15 years.........

Then there aren't too many states you'd be proud to be in. Opinions vary, but most agree that Nebraska is a middle of the road state on the strength of it's DUI laws, and LB736 (2008) was widely praised.

- It was six, not seven previous arrests. The crash on 2/15/11 was the 7th.

- He was not convicted of his first arrest. It was plead down to reckless driving.

- Starting with his 1st actual DUI, he was hit with escalating levels of punishment, which he apparently completed without any violations.

- According to KETV, he was sentenced to 2-3 years in jail, not 14 months.

Also the women that bought her 20 year old brother in law alcohol. The kid ran into a newly wed couple and killed the wife and the husband is in critical condition. The boy is serving 10-14 and the women is serving one year, the maximum for providing to a minor.

Nope, south Omaha as well. Been nearly hit many times on my bicycle by people running red lights and stop signs. And yet drivers point to me as the problem.

Really, any intersection on south 72nd to I-80 is seemingly the worst strip for red light runners and stupid drivers. My friend drove he and myself to Walmart on Pine and we encountered seven or eight drivers running red lights or turn signals and doing U-turns at non U-turn intersections. That's just a little over a mile.

Omaha's worst driving habit is the left hand turn trailers. The one or two cars that follow on the turn arrow once it is red. That drives me nuts.

Thank you for proving my point even more with the facts, 6 time offender hurting innocent
bystanders with slap on the wrist punishments that do not seen to work.
I don't think he'll even do a year in prison while the person he hurt has a life sentence of pain and bad memories.
