I'm curious as to how people feel about this proposed law. I can understand this person being upset by being kissed by a stranger, and he had already been convicted as a sexual offender.

But am I reading this right? If someone kisses you and you didn't ask them to, you can go to jail and be labeled a sex offender? All this says is unsolicitated. So, does that mean if you're out with someone and they kiss you without asking, they can go on a sex offender list?

I'm curious to get other opinions on this.

OMG
You only go on the sex offender list if you are convicted of a sexual offense.

What judge is going to convict a guy for stealing a half second kiss at the end of a date.

I'm not sure. It says you can now go to jail for stealing a kiss. I believe it's also true that someone is on the list if they are 19 and dating someone under age even if it is consensual.

One of my concerns is that parents may look at a map when deciding what area they want to live and be mislead by these type statistics. Also, the life of someone convicted of a sex crime would likely have a difficult time finding housing and employment.

I also wonder how this would be enforced. Most of the best kisses of my life have been spontanious but on those few that weren't quite fireworks inducing...could this be grounds for charges. Does this pave the way for disgruntled lovers to charge a mate with a sexual offense so they could seek retribution or possibly child custody?

The article states kissing could lead to jail time and would be added to the list of untouchable places.

I think this Law is unwanted and not needed. I live in Bill Avery's District and I think he is an over educated idiot. I worked against him in the last election and will again. He is the perfect example of a Nanny State Do Gooder.

It's dumb. . I mean, we already have harassment and sexual harassment laws in place to protect against the kind of thing that this is trying to protect against.

Get over it. What has the world come to if somebody believes an unwanted kiss might cause mental diress. And if those people do exist, shame on them... Please

I read that Avery has decided not to persue the bill, thank God. Apparently someone with some common sense must have talked to this guy.
