at 72nd and ohio street area

(couple blocks south of where the CVS was alleged to have been going to be built)

p.s. something needs to be done with SE corner of 72nd and maple

turn into a park or something.

it is a eyesore on that corner.

btw: nice to see Benson is putting in non-bar type businesses finally coming to benson area.

Maple street is over-saturated between 58th and 63rd and around 69th street on maple with a number of bars

I took a ride thru Benson Sunday morning early. What a trashed out wreck of an area that place has become. Mostly bars, new age religious stores, head shops and hippie hangouts.

The trash that was blowing on the street was terrible. Who could proud of that? Why would any company want to come in and do business in that area?

I also drove by the Winchell's.

Just another place where the drunks can sober up and the 420'ers can get the munchies.

ask councilman Festersen and the BBA and maybe Benson High School 's alumni reps that question

they want to see Benson become this partying, drinking, utopia they control (lot of people who object to Benson 's "future" are attacked for having a opinion

What used to be in that little building? Looks too small to have been any other restaurant.

dont know.

and speaking of too many bars, it turns out Downtown is competing with Benson to be the wanting everyone to be drunk capital of omaha

this was in today's paper 's public pulse and felt like mentioning:

The Public Pulse, June 20 - Omaha.com

Too many liquor stores on block

Downtown Omaha is drowning in liquor outlets. My neighborhood near 16th and Farnam Streets now has its 10th liquor outlet within a block radius.

On June 14, I testified before the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission about why a 10th liquor outlet in this neighborhood should not be approved for a license.

I discussed a recent death on Harney Street associated with an after-party crowd, a new bar at a previous problem establishment,

a history of assaults and constant police presence from a previous nuisance bar next door.

I included assaults on residents, including myself, by customers of this nuisance bar, now closed.

There is an improvement plan for the downtown area and 16th Street corridor to be financed by a special assessment tax.

In 2007, the Nebraska Supreme Court reversed a decision by the commission that it must take the neighborhood into consideration before approving licenses.

The commission approved this license on a 2-1 vote. So much for precedent and quality of life.

This made me laugh. 25 years ago Benson could of been subbed for Old Market.

now, it's trying to be the old market. the BBA sees Benson as the new old market (or a wannabee version of it at the least)

You can never have enough good bars. We should knock down a few churches and build strip clubs there too.
