The Ralston area would be a good choice. You should have lots of options of reasonably-priced houses in that area right now. (Our house has been on the market there for about 2 months - there are several houses for sale right now in the same general price range.) Neighbors are generally friendly. 4th of July parade and fireworks are great.

La Vista - parts are nice, others not as nice.

Papillion - Also a good choice. Brand new houses as well as older homes...

Also, there are areas that are kind of in between Bellevue and Papillion - for example, a few different subdivisions off of 370 around 42nd St. or so.

Any of these areas are a reasonable drive from the base as well as near grocery stores and things of that nature. Not sure what type of nightlife you are interested in, but these areas are more like suburbs and are not known for much nightlife as far as clubs go. There are bars, but not really any clubs... However, they are not overly far from downtown.

No better place to be than Ralston on the 4th - Americana at its best!
