Hello,

I am originally from rural NE and lived in Lincoln between 2002 and 2006. Since 2006 I have lived in CA and now WA for the past five years. My husband and I are considering returning to NE, Lincoln or Omaha being the only cities of consideration.

I enjoyed living in Lincoln; however, I remember that traffic was becoming a problem and the shopping wasn't great. In the time that I lived in Lincoln, I only ventured into Omaha a few times to shop, go to the zoo, etc. I don't know much about Omaha's residential areas.

I'm hoping to start a broad discussion of the pros and cons of both Omaha and Lincoln and to compare and contrast the two from an insider perspective.

Your thoughts and opinions would be much appreciated!

Yeah it really depends on what your looking for. If it is a suburban style neighborhood Lincoln and Omaha would both offer pretty similar things. Urban neighborhoods I think Omaha offers a lot better and different options.

Traffic in Lincoln sucks. I don't think they planed their growth well at all and don't have very efficient ways of getting across the city.

Shopping wise Omaha has more to offer, but Lincoln has some good places for their size.

Again it really probably matter what you look for in entertainment or living environment though.
