What kind of discussion groups are you looking for. I know of a few that meet at the 13th street coffee house and also at the Blue Line Coffee house. Most I know of are art or bicycle related groups.
I'd call or stop by those places and see what information they might have. Any coffee house around the old market or north downtown should have something.
