Just read in the Omaha World Herald (you know, the paper which heralds news of Omaha around the world?)...the 42nd st./I-80 exit be closed for repairs and won't reopen until FALL 2008!!!!

THIS EXIT IS ALL OF 50 YARDS LONG!!! Are we supposed to believe this is the best our city officials can do?

There is absolutely no way Mayor Mike Fahey will get into the senate with a performance record like this? Sad, truely sad.

Well it is in conjunction with a much bigger project. They are adding a lane for southbound JFK motorists. Bridgework on the 42nd st. overpass will also have to be done and that takes a while. Trust me, it's going to be a pain in the ass but that is probably the only way to do it. The city surely learned its lesson the Fort St. fiasco.

pablo,

You might want to check out who is doing the work. As this is part of the federal interstate system I will take a bet that the Nebraska Department of Roads is in control of this project. You know how fast they work on the highways, plus they are saying that the project that they have been working on for a few years now between Lincoln and Omaha is going to be on hold as they are going to be about $113 million short in federal dollars, yet the Governor is sitting on about $540 million in the bank and does not want to use any of it in order to get the projects that they started completed.
