Didn't he live in Bellevue? Why does that matter? Also why do you say try again, you yourself said you were just giving an opinion on an opinionated site, so are these other posters. So basically I'm reading that their opinions are wrong and you are right. Your entitled to your opinion and the right to defend your opinion, just choose your words carefully.

Never graduated. Lived in Bellevue but resided in Papillion/Lavista school district.

Your life really slows down here, allows you to enjoy life much more. I was raised in the Midwest so maybe thats why i like it, but my wife being from California understands why we moved here....cheap housing, great place to raise kids. Yea the weather is rough, but it sure is nice to have actual seasons again! My suggestion is to look for something on the west side of Omaha cause everything new is being built there and i think you get more for your money. And if you plan on working at Offutt...stay in Bellevue, they have the best school system in the area and being close to the base during bad weather is ideal. Stay away from Papillion, La Vista and especially Ralston (people are a little strange and redneckish) the drive to the base is extremely slow and backed up from these areas. Plattsmouth is Redneck ville too but its mostly interstate to the base.
I wouldn't agree with Ralston. Ralston is actually a very nice area with small town appeal. Every year they hold their annual 4th of July celebration and the town comes together to celebrate. I'm sure there are some "strange" people but I lived their for 23 years of my life and didn't meet too many of them.

Agree. If you want a small town in the city -which also is very safe- Ralston would be high on the list.

Default Ralston....

Ralston is one of those towns that used to be a "small town" until so much was built around it that hell....you don't know if your in La Vista, Omaha or even Papillion for that matter. It is just a melting pot, really....it's sad.
I really cannot call Ralston a small town, just too many main roads and highways around it.
And i hate to say it but....every town has a annual 4th of July Event.

Ralston isn't a small town because it's surrounded by almost 1,000,000 people.

Bellevue is a good city.. It's just that, like Omaha and Council Bluffs it has older neighborhood parts to it..

I truly believe that it is a good city, and since the city proper has grown to 56,000 people with no end in sight.. It receives a lot of local publicity..

Bellevue is growing unbelievably fast, just twenty years ago the city was less than half the size of Council Bluffs Iowa, and is now just shooting right past it.. I predict that Bellevue will be near or at 60,000 for the 2010 census and somewhere between 85,000 and 100,000 for the 2020 census..

Council Bluffs has hovered at 50-58k for the last 40 years, but it is growing again as it has surprassed 61,000 people and has had some monstrous growth in retail and entertainment.. This city used to be the biggest dump of a town, and honestly didn't know if it could recover.. But it is now probably the attractive city for retail and entertainment of just about any under 200,000 people.. The housing market has boomed the last 12 years, and I wouldn't doubt for a second if the true population was nearing 65,000..
This city is going to be a glorified one in the next couple of years, and I am going out on a limb and say that it will grow at minimum 1,000 people per year in the next decade..

Papillion is another different animal, while it has a small older neighborhood (again, I am an older neighborhood lover), it honestly is almost entirely built in the last 20 years. The city had about 7,000 people in 1980 and it is about to become the 6th largest city in Nebraska as the city has been growing at nearly 800-1100 per year the last several years.. It has an oustanding retail scene, and Papillion is going to be one of Nebraska's future big cities as it appears to have the most room to grow in Sarpy county, and the city has already launched..

La Vista is again another different animal with virtually no older neighborhoods. The city was a planned community in the 1960's and is now home to a couple of corporate giants, including PayPal and Yahoo! The city, in my opinion is a suburb of a suburb.. La Vista and Pappillion are two birds of a feather and both have been quitely booming together and suddenly have been getting props by national media.. Such as CNN and Forbe's magazine..

Ralston, again is another different city.. While it does lay surrounded by Omaha, people here are proabaly all not too familiar with this town.. And since I lived in Ralston and went to Ralston High School, let me tell you that this area has a uniqueness about it that is recognizable.. It has an old towne downtown area with its own Post Office, and most of the town has quite a hometown pride feel to it.. To me, it is a Dundee waiting to happen (with the difference of Ralston remaining an independent community).
