Unless you are part of a gang, you really have little to worry about. Nearly all Omaha murders involve gang members, with the vast majority of victims knowing their killer in some way. The number of innocent bystanders being killed makes up just a small amount of the murders yearly.

And their definition sucks too. Geographically, it is Northeast Omaha. Again, geographically speaking, anything north of Dodge is northern Omaha.

google maps places the north omaha text at about 52nd and curtis.

The north Omaha Neighborhood alliance is along and east of Fontenelle Blvd. or about 46th street.

but most sources list 72nd street. I have never seen a source for 30th as the western boundry.
30th is the western boundary of North Omaha proper, though the real name for this neighborhood is the Near North Side. This is the neighborhood that sprang up many decades ago when places like Benson, Dundee and Florence (which fall within what a lot of people label "North Omaha") were their own separate towns and not even part of Omaha.

I fully realize it's a losing battle, but I wish people in Omaha (including the media) would learn some of the history to these areas and refer to them correctly.

I'm not convinced that's true, but if it is, why do you think so many people join gangs in North O? When they move to that area, it's either join one for protection or try to fend for yourself. Don't count on the police protecting you.

It is. Random murders in Omaha are few and far between. Most violent crime as a whole is the result of gang violence.

Same inner city dynamics that every big city in America faces. That said, OPD has a top notch anti-gang and homicide unit that usually closes these cases pretty quick.

Shootings in North Omaha are 100% gang & drug related. None of them are random. Absolutely undeniable.

Well, there seems to a shooting almost everynight in North Omaha. Creighton Hospital is now the McDonalds of medical care up there.
Why would anyone suggest that north O is a safe place to live and try to start a family?

There are nongang shooting all the time up there.
REMEMBER the guy that sniped the girl in the head with a deer rifle, as she was waiting in line at the taco bell drive thru. Non-gang shooting.

No, actually there aren't.

Creighton Hospital is now the McDonalds of medical care up there.
Absurd.

Why would anyone suggest that north O is a safe place to live and try to start a family?
No reason, other than for the fact that it's true.

There are nongang shooting all the time up there.
This is false.

That took place almost 8 years ago - which is much longer ago then when the rich kid took an assault rifle into Millard South High School and killed people. Also, it was a screwed up white kid that decided to target black people, because of a bad call in an NFL game.
You really should stop trolling the Omaha section. You're making a fool of yourself.

The childish "nut uh" responses don't negate what he said, nor do they show any kind of trolling whatsoever. An opinion you disagree with is not trolling. Trolling is inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic.
