I think it could be something else that people don't think about. I sometimes think that Black people are too nice , in a sense. What I mean is that Black people have been here just as long as Whites and culturally, there is a connection in spite of the history. I think that Blacks to some degree actually think that certain people will actually come around in a way to where all will be "equal". Some will look at that as entitlement and some will look at it in terms of potential honest unification. Unfortunately, "equal" should be something that Blacks and others view in the spirit of what it nmeans and stands for. Meaning "equal" in the human realm isn't the same as equal in mathematical terms. An example of this is in terms of laws. While we have laws for "equal" opportunity, this can only be totally accomplished by individuals honestly professing that in their hearts.
So, what I'm getting at is that some people or groups should just throw the "equal" aspect of society out and just get back to building things up for the people, places and things they care for. Whether that is through businesses, organizations, religious affiliation, communities and so on.
As for North Omaha, I don't know, but it's story is anything new to this society. Sometimes it is a thing of old infrastructure in some neighborhoods. It could be due to people of a certain income level not being able to maintain the upkeep and in turn, might have to work more than one job just to try to maintain. That in turn, might lead to some form of neglect in terms of family, possessions and even one's self.
