A fascinating read about an event that drew almost 3 million people to Omaha, back in 1898. And now, to th best of my knowledge, not one remnant of the Trans-Mississippi & International Exposition remains intact.

Yeah it was all designed to be temporary. The entire complex was also designed by famous Omaha architect Thomas Kimball who designed practically every noteworthy building in the city around the turn of the century.

construction crews found remnants of buildings in the ground when putting in a new sidewalk through the park where it was... would like to swing a metal detector there but it is kinda a rough area.
