Proposed building at Mister C's site designed to mesh with Metro campus - Omaha.com

This would be an outstanding addition to the neighborhood!

Its great that they're targeting students with the development. Its probably the only thing that would work.

For purely nostalgic reasons, I'm a little sad to see the old Mister C's building go. That was always my favorite restaurant when I was in Omaha and we had many great memories there.

That said, glad to see this positive development moving forward.

me too

My grandmother worked there as a young adult and Mr C always treated our family like his family when we went there.

Mr. C was a very good man. We didn't know him personally, but visited the restaurant often enough that he recognized us and would stop by the table when we were there. Somewhere, I still have a toy snake that he gave me when I was about 8 or 9 years old.

To be honest, I didn't like Mister Cs. Of course, by the time I came to Omaha it was clearly a restaurant in decline. Basically, the food was like the institutionalized stuff you'd find at Golden Corral, but less of it. Mister C himself was still tottering around & glad-handing people, but the whole place was in bad shape. Its past was glorious, but not its present.

I just hope they do something really good on that corner. It is in a spot that could be fantastic, and could be a real cornerstone of neighborhood renewal.
