I feel so bad for those innocent people and their families who now have lost loved ones due to someone who "didnt want to burden anyone anymore".I almost cannot watch any news anymore,whether it be local or national,it makes me sick to my stomach to hear some of the things that are going on nowadays!This world is really going to hell in a handbasket quickly! By the way,MSNBC reported the gunman got the AK-47 from his stepfather, Why would anyone even have that type of gun to begin with? That gun is made for one purpose.

Last I heard... there was no law against having suicidal tendencies. We no longer lock people up in insane asylums in this country. What are law enforcement/social services supposed to do? Assign someone to shadow him every day ? They had already supervised most of his life from the age of 14 until he was a nearly a legal adult (unlike his parents... and the so called father... you know, the guy who had the foresight to posess an AK-47 assault rifle for his son to 'borrow'... now that's something that makes me sick... crappy parents... and people thinking that it's the governments job to fix what they broke).

With that in mind... I also think it is ridiculous to post metal detectors outside schools/public places. I mean let's face it... if a Robert Hawkins is going to want to shoot everyone at school/mall/etc... he's going to shoot the metal detector attendant anyway... especially with an AK-47... unless we want to create a police state with multiple armed militia at every street corner... and NO, increased concealed carry use is not the answer.

Let's start with the family people. If you can't fix the problem there... then there is no amount of social services/law enforcement that is going to be able to stop all of these people.

We should also leave abortion alone then (because they'll do it anyways), less police patrolling for dui's and speeders (they'll do it anyways)..

I see your point stargazer, however, I want to agree with that point, but add too it, for a lot less money society could've established promotional type counceling that would have cost a lot less money and would've 'not' established the need to use a system for the rest of his life, they could have helped robert realize his potentials in life.

I understand the fact that this will still cost money (significantly less), but I don't like the mindset of throwing anybody who is sick into the gutter type of mentality..

We wouldn't even know where to buy a gun like that or the ammo.

But anyone who stays informed knows that we have lots of enemies inside our bordors who have guns like that and more . And they are telling us right to or face and in our streets they hate our guts ! It's no secret that we have molitant third world gangs and militant muslims being trained right under our nose . I don't blame the man for having something a little more equal to fight back with if he's attacked . What I do blame him for is NOT having it locked up to where this maniac couldn't get his hands on it .

Why don't anti-gun people get more informed about the facts of the dangers we face .

Google Americas paramilitary camps and radical mosques and imans teaching hate and training radicals . Do you think France and the Uk are the only ones who have filled their nations with these anti-western groups ? Also the El Savador and mexican gangs who are now according to FBI to be 44 states . They like to use hatchets on your family to make an example and spread fear . Even children are not spared . Stop listening the bull crap of major media who hides the truth and won't report what they are doing .

Maybe you think like Ron Paul and most of the others that if we just be nice they will go away and not butcher us .

Just wait till they take away our 2nd ammendment, then the only ones with guns will be the criminals and radicals . They will be flowing across our wide open borders . And inside our foreign guarded freight coming in on ships from everywhere on earth. Rumor has it they already have smuggled in worse than guns and have it assembled .
