I've read some scary things about people saying the low unemployment rate means nothing and they had trouble finding work. I'm currently studying human services/social work, and would look for a job in non profit. I've seen a lot of help wanted, many of which required only high school education. Hubby would is hoping to get his CDL and truck drive, and we would both be willing to take any job if we had too.

I'm wondering maybe if the people who couldn't find work are looking for careers and decent money? We're hoping to have at least $2,500 between the 2 of us, and work our way up. So we're not looking for a house or a fancy apartment, just something safe so we feel that the income is doable. How long does it take to find work? We want to be realistic and prepared, but would be rooming with our son when we move so have to find work at a decent pace. Just don't want to leave a dire situation here in NY with high hopes only to be worse off!

This reminds me of what Gina Rinehart said a couple years ago -

"There is no monopoly on having money. If you're jealous of those with more money, don't just sit there and complain. Do something to make more money yourself — spend less time drinking or smoking and socializing, and more time working. Become one of those people who work hard, invest, and build."

There are some decent trucking companies around here. We deal with Wynn a lot. They seem to pay their drivers well and they stay somewhat local
