Hello. Maybe someone has had experience with this in the past or can point me in the right direction. Have been trying to do some research if there is any statute or case law to back up the rental agency's claim. I think I was discriminated against when inquiring about renting a house.

The rental company I spoke to said they can not rent to more than 3 people if they are not family. There are 4 of us that were interested in a large house, 5 compliant bedrooms. The agency also mentioned they were not sure if it was the owner's preference or based in law. Does anyone know what the maximum occupancy or any other occupancy restrictions for tenants in Omaha?

The research I did do showed it was definitely a gray area since it's hard to prove discrimination but the general rule of thumb is no more than 2 people per bedroom. I had no idea this would ever be a problem, a large house with 5 compliant bedrooms with only four people doesn't sound like a safety concern to me at all.

Thanks for any help!
