I know it isnt in the near future but who do you think will hold the next tallest building in Omaha and why?

For me is Mutual of Omaha because they are starting to go into the banking buisness and banking coupled with insurance will make a very powerful buisness.

UP already has their plan
Mutual has their campus
Woodmen already has the tower
Berkshire doesn't invest in buildings and they are in good with Kiewit
Gallup has their new campus
Pacific Life - ?
First National already has their tower
Qwest - ?
Conagra has their campus
Other - ?

Guess based on my thoughts above, I would go with Pacific Life

I can tell you that Mutual is NEVER going to build a building taller than they already have. I worked there for a couple of years and still have close contacts with the company and I know it's not in the plan. They don't have nearly the amount of employees they used to have which is why the South Site building is being leased to other companies.

First National has plans for a Two First National Center. I'm not sure of the timeline on that though.

I still maintain that Pacific Life will build a building similar to the Woodmen. Similar in that it will be home to PacLife but have leased space for other companies. I believe this will be where the old World Herald building is now.

There is also a good chance we will get a new tall hotel/condo building on 10th and Capitol and another high rise office building between 11th and 12th on Dodge.

What about TD Ameritrade? They're a local company that is growing fast and they don't really have a central office. I'm sure they could build a tower downtown. Plus, they're CEO expressed interest in funding the new stadium downtown, so that might give them the incentive to build a tower.

Not going to happen. They have plans for a place out west, if they stay in Omaha at all.

DTO, I've never heard of Two First National. I know details can be vague so early on, but is there anything else you can tell us? Do you have inside information?

All I know about Two First National is that the bank has a plan drawn up for someday. That's all. No timeline I'm aware of.

Thanks.

I voted for Pac-Life. Woodmen, Mutual, Gallup, and UP were the ones I canceled out immediately.

I haven't heard anything about Pacific Life building something but everyone keeps talking about it. Does somebody know where to find information?

DTO Luv is one of their employees and he says that they plan to start building a tower in 2009, supposedly on the old World Herald building's site. If you think about it, it makes sense, all they are placing on the site right now is that very undecorated park. Why wouldn't they put a fountain in or something like that? Because it would have to be ripped up for the tower anyway. Besides, the World-Herald has been very hush hush for future plans of the site.
