Pistonsfan: I'm 30 so maybe a tad old to give advice but I'd recommend Upstream downtown. It's a pretty good environment and I think that most college kids stay away from it. I would also recommend Mister Toad. I'm not much of a bar person but I enjoy both of those places. One thing about Omaha, there's plenty of bars and restaurants.

bluepuppy: I'd say that interracial relationships are fairly common in Omaha. I've been in a couple myself and I didn't have any problems.

Glad to hear it! I'm trying to think of cool places in the area but most of them are west and downtown. Most of the bars in the area are sports bars (Side Pockets, Brewsky's, Brew Burgers, etc). By PayPal (on Giles, right before the interstate), there's a little bar called Island which is new and its okay. Mostly an after work hangout but the food is decent. Do you like to dance, drink, karaoke or something else? I'll try to help all I can. Feel free to send me a private message if you want.

I also want to meet new people!! The only people I've met living here are work people. I'm 26 so I'm also kinda out of the bar scene... I would like to get a nice drink or two some where.
I'm a bit shy so it's hard for me to just go out on my own. You know what would be fun, if a bunch of people on here just all went out together... just to get out and meet people. I'm not some crazy person either, I just want to get out and meet some new people.

I am actually quite close with a few many of my co-workers. They're more friends than co-workers though. I have moved around a lot but I've always managed to make new friends where ever I land.

Default Bars

That's good to hear. Brewsky's is pretty cool for a sports bar. Try the Mai Tai Lounge sometime but make sure you have a DD. That and Mr. Toad are my favs. Glad to hear that all is well.

Hi there, I know this is an old thread, but I think it is very valid. There are many places to meet people in Omaha. I have been to Mr. Toads quite often. I enjoy Mr. Toads the most on a warm sunny evening as the sun is setting. One can enjoy the scenery outside while quenching their thirst. There is another "place" to meet people in Omaha. Have you frequented any websites? There are many that involve and have to do with Omaha. I suggest google "omaha forums" or "omaha networks" to beging the search. I happen to work at MyOmahaSpace.com and I can say our website is frequented by locals and it is a good place to meet people. Other than that I would recommend most of Omaha to hang out. Omaha is a fairly safe place to live if you stay away from the "rough" parts of town.... and they are few and far in between.

Thanks, that is good advice! It is just so difficult moving from another state where I was already established and had sooo many friends! Now, I don't really have anyone to "go out with" and its a little scary going out alone as a younger, single (and if I don't mind saying so, attractive girl, because there are so many weirdos out there! I'm still learning my way around, but I certainly miss going out and meeting people, like I could at home! Maybe I should consider joining a "young professionals" group or something similar. I would like to meet some people my age, with similar interests. Where in the world am I supposed to meet a quality boy here??
